Increasing Trauma Informed Practices in Law Enforcement: Minimizing Further Trauma
Service Description
This interactive training presented by Lee is designed to fulfill the requirements of Oregon House Bill 2575 which sets requirements for a "training program for groups and agencies that interact with persons who have experienced trauma" to, among other things, "Have the objective of minimizing further trauma" (https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2021R1/Downloads/MeasureDocument/HB2575/Introduce). As laws usually are, the language of HB 2575 is wordy and technical. Lee sets out in this training to explain how law enforcement officers can better understand the training requirements while also gaining important and useful knowledge and skills. Lee discusses communication skills, emotional intelligence, and provides suggestions on how to better communicate with people who have experienced trauma and efficiently document in police reports those interactions.
